Autumn/Winter 07
We are beginning rehearsals on October 15th with New York dance artist and choreographer Jodi Melnick on the first stage of a new commission which will premiere in March 2008. All are welcome to attend an informal showing of the work so far on October 26th at 7pm at Dance House, Foley Street, Dublin 1.
The company will be running morning professional class throughout the winter in association with Dance Ireland. Classes will be taught by Grant McLay, Oct 15 – 19, Nov 5 - 9, Jenny Roche Oct 8 – 12, Oct 29 – Nov 2, and Katherine O’Malley Nov 12 - 30.
From October 29th Liz Roche will begin work on a new piece for the company “I Can’t Make It Alone”. The piece will run at Project, Space Upstairs from December 5th – 15th (preview Dec 4th)
The piece features a cast of seven stunning dancers and collaborations with renowned opera and theatre designer Joe Vanek, lighting designer/filmmaker Morleigh Steinberg and composer David Turpin.
Taken from the title of the 1967 Dusty Springfield song, this fast-paced dance work explores themes of frustration, fear, humanity and independence. The performers struggle to find stable ground in an intensely changeable and evolving choreographic framework, which is propelled forward through a series of repeat patterns and cover versions.
“Roche weaves these concepts into her work with a seductiveness and guile that leaves you saying:” Hang on. Do that again.”
